We’re in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana at Camp Margaritaville. Bring your wallet, and don’t come on a Sunday. Apparently this place is hopping sometimes, just not Sunday. In fact, it’s a nice quiet evening. It’s been hectic these last couple of days. We left Orlando Friday around 1pm, 2 hours late and the KOA wanted our spot!
Travel up the turnpike, then on to I-75 north where the fun began. That stretch from Wildwood, Florida to the Lake city/I-10 west interchange is and has always been a bad section of highway. I remember sitting in traffic jams on the way home from races when we were kids. Friday was no different. At least an hour each in 2 separate jams. Good times. Once on to I-10, it was smooth sailing to Flat Creek Family Campground in Ochlocknee, Florida. Nice campground, super nice owner (Adam).
There’s a thing on board that both heats the water and provides heat for the coach. It’s called an Aqua-Hot, and it’s a really cool piece of old technology. Essentially a diesel and electric powered boiler. So, we’ve had some issues with ours not running on diesel and thought we had it all sorted. We were wrong. Turned it on to take showers, and it wouldn’t light up. No biggie, we’re at a nice campground with showers. I get a technician on the phone, who is an Aqua-Hot mobile service guy. Unfortunately, he is very mobile and on a trip as well. On the plus side, he’s a straight up awesome person! He spends the next hour on the phone with me troubleshooting the system. He doesn’t even ask me for money. In fact, when we figure out the problem (a thermostat), he says he’ll send me a new one at a campground we are headed to! Obviously, we’re paying for the shipping and the part, but what an awesome dude!
Posting this late, by several days.
